COMO Hotels opens first Italian property
COMO Hotels and Resorts has made its debut in Italy and mainland Europe with the reopening of Castello Del Nero in Tuscany.
Located within Italy’s Chianti wine region, the COMO Castello Del Nero spans 740 acres and has a total of 50 rooms and suites, all housed within a 12th century castle.
The historic site has been delicately transformed by designer Paola Navone into a contemporary retreat, while original details like terracotta floors, fresco walls, and vaulted ceilings remain intact.
Prior to COMO taking over the estate last year, Italy’s Trotta family had operated the property as the Castello Del Nero hotel since 2006.
Together with Navone, COMO Hotels & Resorts have also softly adjusted the spa and culinary offerings to create a serene, contemporary retreat that makes guests feel at home, with precise service, therapeutic wellness experiences, and exceptional, carefully sourced food.
The Michelin-starred La Torre restaurant at COMO Castello del Nero is located in the original stables of the castello in the winter, transferring to the garden terrace in summer.
The two other restaurants, La Taverna and the summer-only Pavilion, offer Mediterranean and Italian fare. Menus are overseen by executive chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro and showcase local produce, including ingredients sourced from COMO Castello Del Nero’s own garden, vineyard, bee hives and olive groves.
COMO Castello Del Nero is the 15th property in the group’s portfolio.
