Mondrian to open two French hotels

Accor has revealed plans to open two new Mondrian properties in France, scheduled to open in Cannes and Bordeaux in 2021.

First up will be the Cannes Grand Hotel on the Croisette, which will offer 75 rooms across 11 floors, a restaurant and a bar overlooking a 4,000 m² private garden, flexible meeting spaces and a private beach in front of the hotel.

The Bordeaux property, built around a 19th century building, will feature 97 rooms each ranging between 25 and 50m² and spread over three floors.

A restaurant with a 460m² bar lounge, a spa, a meeting space and an open-air terrace spanning 225m² will complete the venue, with the opening planned for the second half of 2021.

Accor acquired a 50 per cent stake in SBE Entertainment Group (owners of the Mondrian brand) in 2018. There are currently no Mondrian properties in Europe – the former Mondrian London on the capital’s South Bank was rebranded to become Sea Containers London last year.

The move is part of Accor’s ongoing expansion of its upscale brands in Europe since the 2016 acquisition of the Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel brands.

In just three years, Accor’s luxury and premium brands have entered nine new destinations, meaning that they are now established in 28 of the 39 countries in which the Group operates in Europe.
