6 of the best: new hotel openings for summer 2021

 
 

This summer will see a raft of hot hotels opening their doors across Europe from London to Istanbul, giving planners looking for inspiration for future events plenty of new options.

 

So we check out six of the best, from chic city boutiques to coastal retreats…

Fairmont Windsor Park

This stylish new property from the Accor-owned Fairmont brand is set in the English countryside and will offer a raft of indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings and events when it opens on 1 August. Located on the edge of historic Windsor Great Park and within an hour of London, the hotel is surrounded by 40 acres of open green space featuring a tranquil lake.

Planners will have 13 meeting rooms to choose from including an 800 sqm pillar-free ballroom with capacity for up to 700 guests, as well as landscaped gardens for outdoor functions, making it suitable for a broad range of events.

It will offer over 200 bedrooms and suites and a 2,500 square metre spa and wellness area, a tea lounge, specialist dining restaurant, a champagne bar and an all-day dining venue incorporating a private dining space and a gin bar.

W Algarve

The hip W Hotels brand is making its debut in Portugal this summer with the opening of W Algarve in August. Located just outside of Albufeira on the iconic cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the property will offer 134 rooms and suites plus 83 residences, all ocean facing and boasting spacious balconies.

W Algarve will offer two modern meeting rooms and a raft of outdoor spaces catering for a range of events. Dining options include Market Kitchen, which serves regional cuisine, while Paper Moon will focus on Italian dishes. The hotel will also feature a state-of-the-art fitness centre ‘FIT’ and an ‘Away’ spa with seven treatment rooms, plus outdoor pools.

 

Hard Rock Hotel Madrid

Situated within a prime location in the heart of the vibrant city, Hard Rock Hotel Madrid will open its doors in July opposite the historic Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in the Atocha district of Madrid.

The 161-room, music-themed hotel features a variety of rock and roll and music memorabilia on display throughout the public areas. Regionally inspired food and beverage offerings will be available on-site, as well as a Constant Grind coffee bar and the brand’s signature restaurant, Sessions. Guests will enjoy photo-worthy panoramic views of the Spanish capital from the Rooftop Bar and Terrace, featuring a luscious open-air urban garden. The lobby, rooftop, Sessions and the Garden can all accommodate events.

Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul

Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul will open in the vibrant city this August with 130 rooms and suites overlooking the Bosphorus.

The luxury hotel will boast an array of meeting rooms and several opulent ballrooms including the grand Bosphorus Ballroom with 1,040 sqm of spectacular space, enabling it to accommodate a range of meetings, events and celebrations.

It will also offer three swimming pools, a restaurant, bar and lobby lounge, and an impressive 3,500 sqm spa and fitness centre offering the Group’s award-winning signature wellness programmes as well as locally inspired treatments.

 

Baglioni Resort Sardinia

This luxury resort from Baglioni opened its doors on 1 June on the stunning Mediterranean island of Sardinia. With 78 rooms and suites, the hotel boasts its own private beach, which stretches over 1km, boasting the fine white sand and crystalline sea the region is renowned for.

The culinary highlights at the resort include the Gusto restaurant with gourmet creations by Michelin-starred chef Claudio Sadler, a Pool Bar, a Terrace Bar and a second Italian restaurant with a Mediterranean theme.

The hotel offers unrivalled canoeing, kayaking, kitesurfing, snorkelling and fishing experiences, ideal for incentive groups, while the private estate and surrounding country make a unique setting for mountain biking, horse riding, trekking, yoga or running.

Mondrian Shoreditch London

Accor and sbe are bringing the Mondrian brand back to London this summer in collaboration with The Reuben Brothers. The lifestyle hotel, formerly The Curtain, will open its doors July 2021 following a major overhaul and complete redesign. The 120-bedroom property sits in the heart of Shoreditch, London’s creative and cultural hub.

New dining options include BIBO, a Spanish kitchen serving tapas by world-famous chef Dani García with courtyard seats and a new all-day café and cocktail bar - Christina's Shoreditch.

Event spaces include The Screening Room, a private room and bar. The property will also offer a premium co-working space, and a rooftop pool and lounge. The well-known Curtain Members' Club will re-open at the hotel.
